Finding Your Work from Home Niche

By show of hands, who wants to go to work day in, day out for an unappreciative boss, be stuck in traffic about two hours per day, and miss many of your children’s milestones? Nobody! There is hardly anyone currently employed who does not daydream of working from home, being their own boss, forgetting about the commute, and being available to family and friends whenever possible. For quite a few, this dream translates into a reality when they start their own home business, but some have a hard time getting started; in particular, they have a tough time deciding just what to do for a work from home business.

While finding your work from home niche is not necessarily hard, it is also not as simple as it may sound. To help you along in this process, here are some things to consider when getting ready to earnestly find something to do as a home business:

What are you capable of doing that perhaps someone else does not wish to do or is not able to do? For example, changing your car’s oil and rotating its tires are things that take a special ability, but even those who have it do not always want to do it and therefore will gladly pay someone else to take these messy tasks off their hands. Maybe you have a knack for getting that television hooked up or a computer repaired after a virus attack? Are you great with kids and have them eating out of your hand at your church’s daycare? Do you have a keen eye for bargains and can ferret out deals and steals when even the hardiest shoppers are unable to save anything? All these skills take a knack that you can turn into a home business.

If a special skill does not come to mind readily, why not capitalize on a special talent you may have? Are you a fine artist and can paint portraits of dogs that are so lifelike that friends and family are always asking you for another likeness of Fluffy or Rover? Are you a great cook? Does your garden look like an oasis in a sea of gardens with dried grass and wilting flowers? Can you explain even the most complex algebraic equations to your children in such a way that they actually understand them? Perhaps you play and instrument and would not mind teaching others to do so as well. If so, you have a talent that is quite marketable!

Last but not least, if you have neither special skill nor confirmed talent, you do not need to give up! The odds are good that you will be able to base a business on doing those things everyone knows how to do but in some cases simply does not wish to deal with. For example, if you know how to put a party together, you could be a party planner specializing in children’s birthdays. Conversely, if you do not mind climbing on ladders, then window washer could be your stick. Own gardening equipment? Why not use it to cut other people’s lawns and hedges and become a gardener?

10 Tips

Here are 10 tips to consider when starting a Home Based Business. Getting your work from home opportunity off of the ground is never easy, in fact in our experiences thus far, it has been the hardest part. You have to be very organized, find a niche, and be passionate and determined when looking for other ways to expand your business and find some true business builders. From advertising, to learning the company and products/services, to finding the right fit for you, there is always something to do and pay attention to. Here our the top 10 tips we have when started your first home based business opportunity.

Our top ten home business tips have already assumed you have found your opportunity.

1.) Get Organized, get a schedule, and let nothing stop you. This was our biggest objective to overcome, we were scrambling all over the place, doing unnesscary things, and not focusing on what would help grow our business the most. Especially since you are working from home, there are always things that can be done around the house. So you must get organized, set a schedule, and stick with it so you can meet certain goals on a day to day or week to week basis.

2.) Carve out your workplace. You will find it very hard to work in front of the tv, in the kitchen, or laying in bed. To be truly successful in your desired home business you must be focused and equipped and have the ability to get away from all of the distractions around the house, especially if your a parent.

3.) Look Professional, Be Professional. This can be difficult, and was for me, because I never have been a suit and tie type of guy (that ryhmed) but I learned that a great way to expand your business is to act and look professional because people will judge you on how you act and look because that will probably show them how successful you are at your home business opportunity.

4.) Taxation as Home Business Employee. This is something we are currently doing as April approaches is learning all of the new taxing rules that apply to us who work from home on a full time basis. Learning exactly what expenses are tax deductible and how we can save on our income tax. Make sure that you get familiar with these rules and legal issues as you dont want to hurt your success by something that involves taxes.

5.) Advertising. This is a no brainer right? But some people that I have came across in my first year as an online home business entrepreneur, is that people sign up and just expect you will build it or it will happen on its own. I wish. You have to advertise your home business, and while their are many many ways of doing so, some can be expensive and some are cheap, but you have to find a special niche in doing so and find something that really works. This is a must to grow your business.

6.) Set Goals For Yourself. You joined a home based business opportunity and choose to work from home for a reason right. Probably deals with money or flexibility. Ask yourself, if I am not happy in what I was doing before, what can I do to make changes. Where do I want to be in 3 months, 6 months or a year from now after starting? Even more, how about 3 or 5 years from now? You have to be willing to work for yourself and having small and big goals to meet and accomplish will definitely help you through the tough times!

8.) Get A Website And Learn Internet Marketing. Are you internet savvy? If you are this will definitely help as the internet is the single best way for you to expand your business opportunity because you can reach so many people and dont have to always be face to face with people to get them to join. With the combination of emails, websites, and the internet marketing and growing home based businesses has never been so easy! On a sidenote, if your not internet savvy or dont even know what html stands for, thats ok too because we will help you with all of that and provide websites for all of our business builders!

9.) “Read before you Review”, or do your research! There are millions of home based businesses out there. Unless you put in the time and effort into examining these opportunities out, you may find yourself wasting hundreds or thousands of dollars joining all of these “start-up” or “over-hyped” businesses and then you will never succeed.

10.) Don’t give up, dont get discouraged. They say the average work from home business seeker will only work the business three months! To me, no wonder why so many people dont ever make full time incomes off of this because they never stick at it and the money doesnt flow the first couple of months! Chances are, if the money isnt flowing your not working to the best of your ability or you havent find your special niche yet. Three months is like a trial period, thats why you do your research and examine the opportunity so your ready to go once you join and doing anything for three months is likely not to make you rich! You have to be willing and determined to make your home business opportunity work.

Those our 10 of our tips into looking and starting a home based business opportunity. Just know that you have done the research and examined multiple opportunities, and you choose the one you are with or the one you are about to join for a reason, go back over your goals and see if it is a measurable and attainable goal!
